Next, Nick moved back to Kentucky in 1991 and joined the Kentucky Bar Association in 1991. At that time, he was officially admitted to practice in Kentucky and the Federal Court in Southern Indiana. He then went on to open his own law firm specializing in bankruptcy and foreclosure law.
Although Nick has an assistant, he has never handed a case over to an associate attorney, paralegal, or support staff, as many other law firms will. Instead, Nick prefers to consult with his clients and prepare their petitions personally. This attention to detail means that all of Nick’s clients get the best possible legal representation from an attorney with decades of experience in bankruptcy and foreclosure law.
Nick lectures at many NBI (National Bankruptcy Institute) and Lorman bankruptcy seminars. Over 500 bankruptcy attorneys, tax and real estate professionals have attended his seminars.
From 1994 to 1995, Nick worked as an assistant county prosecutor in Bullitt County. He also worked as a Federal Public defender under the CJA program from 1992-1998.
From Nick Thompson
“I have been filing bankruptcy cases in Louisville, Kentucky since 1991. It’s important for me to be sensitive to my client’s needs. Clients normally file bankruptcy because of a death, divorce, disability or loss of income. I realize that my clients are trying to pay their debts. However, through no fault of their own, they are unable to do so. When these tragic events occur they need a fresh start on a new budget. If they can repay their debts they might file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. But about 70% of my clients have little or no income and assets, so they qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. That’s why our website contains manuals and materials so that you can work with us to eliminate the difficulties faced with discharging your debts.”
“Bankruptcy is a chance for the deserving debtor gets a fresh start. In fact, the theme of my office is a fresh green leaf after a spring shower. We do this because it is our goal that our clients start over, like they were born all over again, with a fresh start. Our goal is for all their debts to be behind them and forgiven. They also have to budget their new incomes, which are often less than before the events leading to bankruptcy. That’s why we work with our clients to design an effective bankruptcy plan, one that eliminates their debt in order to give them a new, bright future.”
“If a bad home mortgage or car loan requires that the property goes back, we try to design the bankruptcy so that it goes back in a way that ensures the client is not stuck with a tax debt or deficiency from the foreclosure. The bankruptcy can be the hope of a new life that the debtor planned for instead of a disaster that happened to them. Let us help you plan your fresh start after your disaster.”
